Blogger Bash
I am taking a few days off at the top of the week to avoid going out in this arctic weather and it never fails, whenever I plan to take a few days off of work the last day before I leave is always a hectic one. Friday was no exception. So I was so ready for the Paul Frankenstein’s blogger bash. last night. Being the nerd that I am. I showed up at AZ fifteen minutes early. I was of course the first one there and was greeted by two hostesses who asked if they could help me.
“yea, I am here for the blogger party?”
The ladies told me that they knew nothing about a blogger party but that someone had called earlier to ask about it. I was relieved to hear that because I was wondering if was at the wrong bar. They asked me how many people would be at this party “ten?” Fifteen?” Since I really had no idea because I had never been to a blogger party before and the rsvp list looked a little long to me I made what may have been an ominous reply.
“oh…ah more like…. about a hundred?”
Their eyes got a little wider when I said that. I told them that I didn’t really know but there were probably going to be a lot of people certainly more than fifteen. I checked in my coat, ordered an $18 drink and sat down.
Soon after other bloggers began to arrive. I was greeted by Paul Frankenstein. then Mike Wolf. came by. We talked about our ipods, weather or not itunes was the best platform to use to sync them. Mike also brought nametags so we could associate faces with url’s.
Now I don’t think there were a hundred people but a lot more people came than they could handle because they cut us off! That’s right, the servers stopped serving but further more, nobody could go to the bar and order a drink because the bartender’s were flatly ignoring everyone who had a nametag from our party. Now I can understand their asking us to go to the bar for drinks but for the bartender to refuse to serve us? How foolish! How can a bar refuse to serve a group of fairly quiet albeit large group of people early on a Friday night? The PUTZES!
Word quickly spread that the bash was relocating to Siberia, a bar at 40th and 9th. Even though I live in Brooklyn and it would have been easier to just jump on the subway and head home, I joined other blogger’s in a cab and headed up town. We had a little trouble finding the place but got there okay. I didn’t stay too long after that though I left just as the band was arriving. It was fun to meet other bloggers and compare notes about referrers, publishing software etc and hate mail. I learned a little bit more about moveable type and I might start using it if I ever figure out how to install it.

wish i could have made it... dang

I'm shocked and disgusted at the attitude of the bartenders in the first bar. I hope you all gave them filthy looks on the way out, and promised yourselves never to go back there again! It's a question of dignity.
