I just renewed my lease out here and picked the two-year option locking me in a fairly low rent until 2009. I’m not absolutely positive I want to stay here that long but a rent stabilized lease should be easy to break.
Now that the weather is warmer the beaches are quite crowded. After breakfast yesterday I walked along the shores with my shoes off. The water felt nice once I got used to it and there were a few people swimming. I thought I might go swimming later today but I think the water would probably be too cold for me.
The bicycle was a great purchase. I often ride down Ocean Parkway to Prospect Park and then ride around there. Sometimes I stop off at the farmer’s market in Grand Army Plaza. The challenge is riding up that steep hill which I’m proud to say I'm able to do. It’s nice to go back to the old hood without getting on the subway. I wonder if I’ll still be able to make this trip when the weather gets colder.
I took a detour to my old apartment building in Kensington and noticed that the new owners finally installed new windows. The rotting windows were quite a problem for me at the old apartment and was one of the reasons I decided not to stay there. In the winter I had to put up plastic to keep out the cold. In the summer the living room would flood if it rained too hard.
Usually after a long bike ride like that I feel I deserve a spate of sitting in front of the television with the 100 + channels that have entered my life.
