I want to buy a house. Not an apartment. (even though I would probably settle for one) a HOUSE, with a yard, and preferably detached. AND I want one in Brooklyn. Now, it will probably be awhile before I could make this dream a reality...but it doesn't hurt to dream. Does it?
On my way home from church today I decided to walk around Prospect Park and I came upon an open house on Reeves Street. I decided to take a look. It was the strangest open house ever because NOBODY was there. Just a blank piece of paper with a pen next to it that I presume was put there so people could give their contact info.
The house needed a lot of work. There was a lot of paneling circa 1970 all over the place, and it needed new appliances. If I were buying the house, I would have knocked down some walls.
But the biggest surprise was the cost $799,000!! If the house was in "move in" condition, I could see someone paying that price, but this place has to be gut renovated.
I guess the housing crisis in NYC is over.
